I’m Jakob Staudal. I live in Odense, where I develop the future.
From building software for startups to creating tools used by some of Denmark's largest companies, my journey as a developer has been about more than just writing code—it's about solving real problems and creating value.
One of the most exciting projects I’ve worked on was Postbuddy, where I transformed direct mailing into a powerful marketing tool. The challenge was to bring email marketing’s level of precision—tracking revenue, ROI, and conversions—to the world of physical mail. It was an intense learning curve, involving concepts like variable PDF generation, parallelizing workloads across workers, and leveraging serverless functions like AWS Lambda. What made this project truly rewarding was seeing it in action, working as intended, and knowing it had an impact in the real world.
For me, that’s the ultimate satisfaction—seeing the things I build being used, and knowing they’re working the way they should. It’s that hands-on, practical approach that drives me every day. I’m not just a coder who punches out lines of code; I’m a developer who dives into problems, learns the tools needed to solve them, and ensures the solutions make a real difference.
Working in a startup taught me that knowing why you’re building something is just as important as knowing how to build it. I’ve learned to focus on the value of what I create—what will impact users the most, what’s worth the effort, and how to prioritize time wisely. It’s all about creating software that isn’t just functional but truly meaningful for the people using it.
What sets me apart is my ability to bridge the gap between clients and code. I’ve been client-facing for much of my career, learning how to turn vague project ideas into clear, actionable solutions. It’s not just about delivering on requirements—it’s about understanding the core need behind every project and ensuring the software meets that need.
